This commercial building is located in Lagonissi, a pristine coastal region in Greece where many residents of Athens spend their vacations. However, there are now quite a few permanent residents living in the area.

The building houses five shops on the ground floor, each connected to the basement, as well as two offices with terraces on the second floor. Due to the unique shape of the site, I designed the building to feature two cross beams—one diagonally perpendicular to the building and another parallel to the façade—creating a grid. The concept was to design a structure that resembles a sculpture.

To increase the property value, the ground floor was designed to maximize usable square footage. I envisioned a space that feels light and expansive. On the second floor, the remaining square footage was organized into two quadrants that serve as offices.

The canopy is supported by a series of steel columns positioned on either side of the building. This design creates a natural flow for movement through the space, directing people toward the coastline. The canopy formed on the roof between the two offices extends from the steel columns and enhances the building’s proportions.

Additionally, the metal cladding wall on the building’s third side is elevated and covers one of the offices on the second floor at a slight incline. This design gives the impression that the entire structure is suspended by this wall.
