This is a 130 sq. m apartment located on the 6th floor of a residential building built in 1932, situated in Kolonaki. Initially, it was a one-bedroom apartment, which was not suitable for a family of four.
The entire layout was redesigned to maximize the potential of the space, transforming it into a contemporary home. The concept focused on utilizing the large entrance area effectively. A wall between the bedroom and part of the living room was removed to create a more spacious living room. The kitchen was designed to be adjacent to the living room.
The master bedroom, complete with its own bathroom, was positioned where part of the previous living room and entrance had been. The large old kitchen and a small adjacent room were completely redesigned to create two new bedrooms. Additionally, two more bathrooms were added—one for the children and one for guests—located near the master bathroom.
All electrical and plumbing systems were updated, and the windows and shutters were replaced to enhance insulation and energy efficiency while maintaining the original window designs to preserve the building’s character. The original oak wood floors and doors were restored, and new oak floors were installed in the newly created bedrooms. The old ornate plaster around the perimeter of the ceiling was also preserved.
