This project involved the renovation of a 270 m² apartment located in a residential complex built in 1932 in Kolonaki, one of the most expensive historic neighborhoods in downtown Athens. At the time of its construction, it was considered one of the largest luxury apartment buildings. Over the years, these buildings have gained significant attention in various publications and are now regarded as a showcase of 1930s architecture in Athens.
The goal of the renovation was to transform the apartment into a contemporary home. This was achieved with minor changes to the floor plan, as well as updates to the electrical and plumbing systems. The windows and shutters were replaced to enhance insulation and energy efficiency while retaining the original window designs to preserve the building’s character.
The kitchen underwent a complete renovation to create a spacious area, and the bathrooms were also updated. To conceal electrical and mechanical ductwork, plasterboards were installed on the ceiling of the long corridor. Additionally, the original oak wood floors and doors were restored, maintaining the apartment’s historical charm.
